2.3 Step 2: Look for common signs of a legal issue

A client walks into your office obviously distraught. You ask them what is wrong. They tell you they got a serious looking document in the mail.

Receiving legal documents is a very obvious sign that indicates your client has a legal problem. There are others, including:

• documents from a lawyer
• eviction from their home
• end of a relationship
• job loss
• experiencing abuse or violence
• owe debts
